Have you ever noticed that negativity creates negativity?
I must confess—this one’s personal. I’ve been trapped by the newsfeed, endless scrolling on social, the "you know better, don't go there" news pulls that your mouse wants to click. It’s easy to slip into the trap, to get caught in the noise without even realizing it. Negativity creates negativity.
Ironically in math, a negative times a negative may equal a positive. But let me tell you—when it comes to life, a negative plus a negative is always more negative. When we feed on negativity, it multiplies. And it doesn’t take long before it starts to shape how we see the world—and see our environment.
Our world feels heavy sometimes.
Scroll too long, and the weight settles in. Another headline. Another scandal. Another reason to feel like things are falling apart. Outrage drives clicks. Fear keeps us hooked. And before we know it, we’re addicted to the very thing that’s draining our hope.
We weren’t made for this much noise.
Yes, information matters. Awareness is important. But let’s be honest—too much of it without perspective can crush the spirit. Not every notification is urgent. Not every voice deserves a seat at your table. You don’t have to carry every crisis, solve every debate, or respond to every spark of outrage.
Lead yourself first.
Lead with focus. With intentionality.
Instead of feeding on fear, let's lead with focus. Fill our mind with what builds, not what breaks. Read something that sharpens you. Trade panic for purpose. Listen to voices that bring clarity, not confusion. Spend time with people who remind you of what’s possible.
As Fred Rogers once said, "Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping." Hope is still out there—you just have to know where to look.
Call to Action:
Turn down the noise. Open a book. Have a real conversation. Be a helper. Let your mind breathe. And lead with clarity, not chaos.
